Observable jets from the BFKL chain.

چکیده
We derive a modified form of the BFKL equation which enables the structure of the gluon emissions to be studied in small x deep inelastic scattering. The equation incorporates the resummation of the virtual and unresolved real gluon emissions. We solve the equation to calculate the number of small x deep-inelastic events containing 0, 1, 2 . . . resolved gluon jets, that is jets with transverse momenta qT > μ. We study the jet decomposition for different choices of the jet resolution parameter μ.

Di erences between Monte Carlo models for DIS at small - x and the relation to BFKL dynamics
The diierences between two standard Monte Carlo models, Lepto and Ari-adne, for deep inelastic scattering at small-x is analysed in detail. It is shown that the diierence arises from a `unorthodox' suppression factor used in Ari-adne which replaces the normal ratio of parton densities. This gives rise to a factor that qualitatively is similar to what one would expect from BFKL dynamics for some...

Strong correlations between the number of emitted jets and their average transverse momentum are found for the events resulting from the exchange of a single BFKL pomeron. As well-known, strong correlations are observed experimentally between the average p T and multiplicities of particles produced in high-energy hadronic collisions [1]. Average p T grows with multiplicity. This fact can be int...
متن کاملPhenomenology of Jet Physics in the Bfkl Formalism at Nlo
We study jet physics in the high energy regime of QCD. Based on the NLO BFKL equation, we construct a vertex for the production of a jet at central rapidity in kT -factorization. A jet algorithm is introduced, and we take special care of the separation of multi-Regge and quasi-multi-Regge kinematics. The connection with the energy scale of the evolution is investigated in detail. The result is ...

Figure 1: Comparison between the H1 dσ/dx measurement with predictions for BFKL-LL, BFKL-NLL and DGLAP NLO calculations (see text). S4 and LL BFKL cannot be distinguished on that figure. Following the successful BFKL [2] parametrisation of the forward-jet cross-section dσ/dx at Leading Order (LO) at HERA [3, 4], it is possible to perform a similar study using Next-to-leading (NLL) resummed BFKL...
متن کاملDeep inelastic events containing two forward jets at HERA
We use the BFKL equation to calculate the rate of deep inelastic scattering events containing two forward jets (adjacent to the proton remnants) at HERA. We compare the production of two forward jets with that of only one forward jet (the “Mueller” process). We obtain a stable prediction for this two to one jet ratio, which may serve as a measure of the BFKL vertex function.
